traveling leaves

Fallleaves1

Fallleaves3

Fallleaves2

We picked up A Drive in the Country illustrated by local artist Marc Burkhardt. The story is adorable, a Sunday drive in the country with no destination in mind but being together. During the drive the family stops by the road to pick fall leaves to send to their cousins who don't have Autumn where they live. What a sweet idea! So I asked my dear friend Katherine of Minnesota if she would pop some in the mail to us. This little package of traveling leaves made us so happy. We read the book again and I surprised the boys with the package at the end of the book. They loved it! We all loved it. Thank you Katherine for making our day.

This is my latest wedding that I had mentioned I was excited about sharing in an earlier post. I feel really honored to have printed one of my favorite artists Candace Briceño's wedding invitation. I have loved her work for some time now. Candace did the beautiful drawing and we collaborated on the overall design.  Click here for a glimpse of Candace's work. And if you are in Texas she has a group show with 6 other artists at the Art Museum of South Texas in Corpus Christi that will be up until November 11, 2008.  Best of all wishes to Candace and Tom!

Love it! Thank you Texas Monthly for the great press. I'm not sure if the fashion issue in on the news stands, it may only come to subscribers. Local friends, save me a copy if you subscribe.

Back to School "Don't shop; SWAP!" this Saturday!

Picture 63 BernandKath

Well my ladies Kathie Sever and Bernadette Noll ( pictured above)  have done it again! I love everything about this event and please don't miss it if you are in Austin. This Saturday 10-2pm! I'll be there helping out and hopefully swapping and UPcycling away with my kids. Read a more in-depth article about it on Craft here

WHAT: Don't Shop; Swap - Clothes swap on Tax free shopping day

WHEN: Saturday,August 16th. 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

WHO: This event is being sponsored by the Future Craft Collective and The Zilker Green Committee

WHERE: Zilker Elementary School Gymnasium 1900 Bluebonnet Lane 78704

WHY: Because it's time for back to school shopping but we'd rather swap than shop. We can make a difference by utilizing what's already out there and minimize our impact on our already overtaxed planet.

Those that attend can bring their clothes which will then be sorted into various piles of gender and size and variety. In the style of Swap a rama rama, seen at last year's Maker Faire, we will have sewing machines lined up operated by seamstresses from the community who can help people alter and reconstruct the clothes they find in the piles.

We are hoping to alleviate the pressure on families to spend money they might not have and to buy things they don't need or want. There is definitely pressure applied to consume, to over extend, and it is our hope that we can help people realize that it's way more fun and creative to share what is already out there and for each person to define their own style - thereby making the idea of hand-me-downs and clothes swapping "cool" in the eyes of the kids. And "green" in the eyes of our planet.

Thank you #4

Thankyoulowres 5thgrouplowres

And last, #4 Thank you! Thank you for keeping up with this blog, commenting, and emailing.  Last night was a bit rough, turns out my son has croup which I've always heard about but never lived through. We had a steroid pill, in hand, twice last night but thankfully did not have to use it. I kept thinking this must be what it's like to be the sinking diving bell. Ugh. Thank you sun for coming up.

I'm sorry

#2 of the new designs. For the holidays this will come with a cranberry red envelope. I have a hard time coming up with holiday cards but I thought this one could strike a good balance of showing the feeling of coming home to spend time with friends and family. Peace.

New cards are here!

Happybirthday

I'm so excited, the new cards are finally ready! Now, I have to set up a photo shoot, add them to my shop, ship them off to all my lovely retailers and add them to  the RRP site. For now, they are always with me - getting up with me to have tea  and sleeping on my bedside table. I always carry my most recent work around like newborn babies until I get over staring at them. Yes, I'm a geek.

We bought several items from these women. And I hope my broken Spanish let them know how hard I know they  work and how beautiful their work is. Isn't that the most adorable monkey coaster! Who could actually use that as a coaster??

I love this picture of Punta Laguna taken by my husband. I'm out in a canoe and our guide assured me
there were only small crocodiles... What, like Shetland ponies to horses? I wasn't aware that we had miniature crocodiles. And the tiny ones, are they not interested in eating???? :) Needless to say, I did not rock the boat.

Wondertime magazine
